As you can imagine I am quite annoyed with the Facebook<\/strong> App. After spending the better part of 4 hours updating my phone from Android 5.0.1 to Android 6.0 I now have Facebook working again.<\/p>\n

How did I get there? Well, longer story long I did some research and found that some of the sites that repost previous versions of Android Apps listed the current version 146.x.x.x.x of Facebook<\/strong> requiring 4.0.3, however, previous ones required 5.0. This was odd to me so so I downloaded the APK files and 5.0 could recognize them as valid APK files until I got to the version which they claimed a minimum were 4.x.x versions at which time my phone would recognize the APK files.<\/p>\n

So, was it that Facebook<\/strong> was releasing an App for Android 6.0 claiming it was compatible with 5.x? That’s what it appears to me. Looking back, this is probably what happened to my Facebook Messenger<\/strong> as well.<\/p>\n

Needless to say I only found out after upgrade to 6.0 which took hours of my time while components were upgraded and apps were optimized x 3 because of the subsequent updates.<\/p>\n

In the process I ran into a problem with the\u00a0 “Google Play Services won’t run unless you update Google Play Services”. Yeah, okay. That’s a new one. Tons of research later and that problem is solved by doing the following (at least this worked for me).<\/p>\n

Reboot\/restart device.\nGo to settings > storage > cached data > clear cached data.\nGo to settings  > storage > apps > google play store>clear data.\nGo to settings > storage > apps > download manager>clear data.\u00a0\nGo to settings >security > scroll down to\nDevice administrators tap on this and see find my phone.\nNext to this \"uncheck\" in the box\n(Deactivate).\nGo to settings > storage > apps > google play services > uninstall updates.\nOpen G+app or google map this prompts to update.\nTap on update button.\n(Now you can supposedly leave the device for sometime connected to internet, and plugged the charger in. play services update automatically.)\nFinishing this.\nSettings > > > find my phone >activate.\nReboot\/restart device.<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
