I did this with my <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2v8hWlI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kobalt cordless drill<\/a> using 3\/16&#8243; drill bit. This allowed me to remove part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3Opr6Qg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rivet <\/a>which then allowed me to use a screwdriver to pop the old rivet stud though the shovel. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The next step in this process was to measure the width and the length of where the old blade was.  I determined for my shovel a 1 1\/4&#8243; flat steel bar would work as long as it was at least 18 inches long.  I headed down to my local home center and picked up some 1\/8&#8243; x 1 1\/4&#8243; x 36&#8243; flat steel bar and some 3\/16&#8243; <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3Opr6Qg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rivets<\/a>. Now, off to my drill press to drill the holes using the same 3\/16&#8243; bit because that is the size of the rivets.  Now, you can drill these by hand using your drill but you should clamp down this metal.  Even on a drill press you should clamp down this metal to prevent the bit from catching it and spinning it around like a lawn mower blade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before and during the drill process of each hole you&#8217;ll want to put a drop or so of lubricant down.  I used <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3HLPmYQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">3-in-ONE Oil<\/a> but you can use any oil. I used a paper towel and just wiped it off into the trash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4: Align the New Blade<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Position the new blade along the bottom edge of the shovel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Holes line up perfectly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The blade sits flush against the shovel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The scraping edge faces the correct direction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Proper alignment ensures your snow shovel blade replacement performs correctly<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 5a: Secure the Blade with Bolts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Insert the bolts through the aligned holes if you have one that uses bolts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tighten evenly from side to side.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid overtightening, which can warp the blade.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure the blade is secure and does not move.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 5b: Secure the Blade with Rivets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If yours had rivets and you need to replace with rivets:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now you&#8217;ll want to line up one of the holes in the shovel and steel bar. Load the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3UmHQLy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rivet gun<\/a> by sticking the small nail like piece of the rivet into the gun. Then shove that fat end of the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3Opr6Qg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rivet <\/a>through the hole making sure it goes all the way through the steel bar and the shove hole. Then just start squeezing the rivet gun handle until you hear a loud pop. The nail like end will break off and you&#8217;ll have set your first rivet.
